Competition Format

Top Dog is an 18-hole pairs Betterball Stableford competition played across the qualifying Sundays of the 2026/27 winter season.

If the course is open for a reduced number of holes, the competition may be played over the course available that day.

Entry is open to full members of Romiley Golf Club.

Enter as a pair through HowDidIDo → Menu → Knockouts.
Entry fee is £2.50 per player.
The entry fee will be deducted from each player's club account once entries are confirmed.
Withdrawals made before the entry deadline will receive a refund.

Players must hold a current WHS handicap with at least 20 scores recorded.

Playing allowance is 85% of Course Handicap.

If six or more temporary greens are in use, the handicap allowance is reduced to 50% of Course Handicap.

Men and ladies play from the black tees.

Each pair should arrange to play with another pair entered in the competition wherever possible.

If another competing pair cannot be found, the card may be marked by a non-competitor.

A pair cannot mark its own card.

Players must sign in and return their score through ClubV1 in the normal way.

The weekly competition fee is £5.00 per pair.

The weekly entry fees are split equally:

Order of Merit points are awarded to the top 10 pairs in each qualifying round.

Only each pair's best 8 results count towards their final Order of Merit total.

Tied weekly positions are decided by the competition card playoff.

The top 8 places and ties in the final Order of Merit qualify for Finals Day.

A pair must have completed at least 8 qualifying rounds to be eligible.

Finals Day takes place on Sunday 7 March 2027 .

A separate competition of the day will also be available for pairs who do not qualify for the Top Dog Final.
